Average life expectancy of Bangladeshis goes up to 72.8 years

The average life expectancy of Bangladeshis has increased to 72.8 years in 2020 as compared to 72.6 years in 2019.

Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) published a report on it on Monday morning.

Planning Minister MA Mannan unveiled the report titled “Monitoring the Situation of Vital Statistics of Bangladesh” at the BBS office.

 

The average life expectancy at birth for Bangladeshi women now stands at 74.5 years, some 3.3 years more than a man which was 3.1 years in 2019.

Meanwhile, for men the expectancy stands at 71.2 years.

In 2019, the life expectancy of men was 71.1 years and that of women was 74.2 years.

In last five years, the life expectancy at birth for men have increased by 328.5 days and by 584 days for women.

Although the country has gone through a pandemic since March last year, the statistics are showing that the average life expectancy has reached to 72.8 years in 2020 from 72.6 years in 2019.

The average life expectancy for the nation have also increased for 1.2 years in the last five years.
